Bryan E. Smith is a lifelong Macon County, Illinois resident and candidate for Macon County Clerk. He began his public service career at age 19 when he was elected Long Creek Township Clerk in 1985 — the youngest elected township official in Illinois at the time. He served 35 years at the Township Officials of Illinois, including 25 years as Executive Director/CEO, and 18 years as an elected member of the Macon County Board. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Millikin University.

He served 35 years at the Township Officials of Illinois (25 as Executive Director/CEO), 18 years on the Macon County Board (chairing the committee with direct oversight of the County Clerk's office), 25 years on the National Association of Towns and Townships Board of Directors, and 17 years on the Macon County Mental Health 708 Board. He has been directly involved in budgeting for the County Clerk's office and has trained officials across Illinois on government law compliance.

365 Days to Victory Fundraiser - Bryan Smith for Macon County Clerk

The campaign held its first fundraiser on November 3, 2025 at The Hostetler in downtown Decatur. The fundraiser was billed as “365 Days to Victory” since it was exactly 365 days until the November 3, 2026 election.

An enthusiastic crowd filled the venue and enjoyed great food and drink and heard remarks from State Representative Sue Scherer, State Representative and candidate for Illinois Comptroller Margaret Croke; and former Congressman Glenn Poshard.

County Clerk candidate Bryan E. Smith was overwhelmed with the turnout and thanked everyone for their attendance and support. Thanks to EVERYONE who sponsored the event and attended.
