Bryan has been involved in public service his entire life. His first official position was when he was just 19 years old. 

 

 

A Strong History

  • 6th Generation resident of Long Creek Township, Macon County, Illinois

  • Educated in Mt. Zion and Decatur Public Schools

  • 1987 Graduate of Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois with a B.A. Degree in Political Science

  • Employed for 35 years at the Township Officials of Illinois. First served as Associate Director for 9 years and then named Executive Director/CEO in 1996, only the third person in the Association’s over 100-year history to serve in that position.  Served for 25 years, the second longest serving CEO for the Association. He also served for 25 years as Editor of the association’s magazine, Township Perspective.  

  • Represented Illinois on the National Association of Towns and Townships (NATaT) Board of Directors for 25 years, serving as Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President and two different terms as President.

  • Began his service in township government when he was elected as Long Creek Township Clerk in 1985 at the age of 19. Was the youngest elected township official in the State of Illinois at the time. Re-Elected Long Creek Township Clerk in 1989. Appointed as Long Creek Township Supervisor in 1992. Elected as Long Creek Township Supervisor in 1993 and served until 1996. Appointed in 2019 as Long Creek Township Clerk to replace his late father who had held the position for 23 years. Nominated and elected as Long Creek Township Clerk in 2021 and served until 2023.  
  • Served for 18 years as an elected member of the Macon County Board where he Chaired the Committee with direct oversight of the County Clerk’s office and was involved in developing the budget for the office each year. He has also served as an elected Library District Trustee and as an appointed Trustee for the Fire Protection District.   
  • In 2022 he qualified and was appointed to the Macon County Board of Review.

  • Elected Precinct Committeeperson in Long Creek #3 for several years and became Chairman of the Macon County Democratic Central Committee in 2024.  Chair of the Long Creek Township Democratic Central Committee since 2022.

  • Served for 17 years as a member of the Macon County Mental Health 708 Board and served two terms as President of the Board.  

  • Started BS Consulting where he assists townships and road districts with budgetary issues and other concerns

  • Substitute teacher at the high school level in Macon County

At home, he is the father of two daughters.  Kayleigh, a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and Kelcie, a sophomore at the University of South Carolina Beaufort; a grouchy 13 year old cat named Sparkles, a 6 year old Mini Goldendoodle named Cash, and a rambunctious kitten named Winny.  He also cares for his 99 year old mother, Wanda who resides at Tanglewood.
