He began his public service career at age 19 when he was elected Long Creek Township Clerk in 1985 — the youngest elected township official in Illinois at the time. He served 35 years at the Township Officials of Illinois, including 25 years as Executive Director/CEO, and 18 years as an elected member of the Macon County Board. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Millikin University.

County Clerk candidate, along with County Board candidate for District 5 Michelle Wayne, attended the Fall Festival Breakfast at the Blue Mound Lodge No. 682 on Saturday, August 1. The breakfast prepared by the lodge was delicious and both candidates enjoyed meeting several Blue Mound residents who were also attending.
